Raleigh Thompson

Raleigh Thompson, age 75, of San Carlos, Arizona passed away on December 5, 2015 at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. He was born in San Carlos, Arizona on April 22, 1940. He was the son of Ralph and Jeanette Thompson. Raleigh went to the Rice School and St. John’s Catholic High School in Laveen, Arizona. He also attended Haskell Indian School in Lawrence, Kansas where he graduated. He worked in a restaurant on Catalina Island in California, as a plant Manager for the B.I.A./S.C.A.T. and was the Interim Tribal Chairman from 1991-1992. He won his second term as Councilman as a write In Candidate. He served for 20 years as a councilman. He was also the President of the Casino Enterprise Board, President of the Anchor 7 Cattle Association and the Apache Survival Coalition. He also served on many Sub Committees. He loved being outdoors and loved to go hunting, camping and hiking. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Jeannette Thompson. Raleigh is survived by his wife Joanne of San Carlos, children Patrick Thompson (Elba) of Second Mesa, Arizona, Mary Dewey (Mark) of San Carlos and Terrence Thompson (Angela) of Sacaton, Arizona. He has one brother Wesley Randall of Sells, Arizona There was a visitation on Friday from 8:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. in the Council Chambers followed by a wake at the Thompson Residence in San Carlos. His services were Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Burdette Hall with the interment in Elgo Dam Cemetery
