Ysabel Ortega

Ysabel Ortega Jr. was born on July 30, 1920 to Manuela Gutierrez Ortega and Ysabel Ortega in Deming, NM. They had four children; Ramona Madrid, Aurora Madrid, and Luz Madrid, with Ysabel being the oldest. After a few years of living in Silver City and Bayard, NM, the family moved to Miami, AZ as his dad found work in the mines. His dad fell ill and passed away on January 31st, 1931. Soon thereafter, the family moved to Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico and lived there during the Great Depression. His mother passed away approximately a year later, he and his sisters moved to Palomas, Chihuahua, Mexico to stay with their aunt. When Ysabel was 16, he moved to Santa Clara, NM and stayed with his cousin, Maria Morales, while trying to find work. He met Concepcion Martinez when he was 18 and started their life together. After saving what little money he could, he was able to bring his sisters to the United States, where eventually his sisters married and began families of their own.   Ysabel returned to Miami, AZ with Concha and found employment as a miner at the Inspiration Mine. Shortly after, he was drafted into the U.S. Army on September 18, 1942 and served in World War II on the Islands of Guam and Okinawa in the Pacific Theater. He was Honorably Discharged from the Army after the war on January 24, 1946. After returning home, he and Concha moved back to Bayard where he found work in the Asarco Mines. Five years later, they returned to Miami and he worked for Miami Copper. In July 1948, Concha and Ysabel welcomed their son, Henry. After a few years, Ysabel went to work for Magma Copper. On January 1, 1962, Ysabel gave his life to the Lord and was baptized in Tucson, AZ. Ysabel and his family became members of the Superior Apostolic Church in 1968. Concha passed away in 1978, having been married over 35 years. Soon afterwards, Ysabel met Teresa Meza in 1979 and were married in Encanto, CA on July 29th, 1979. They welcomed their first child, Ruben in September 1980. One year later, Ysabel retired from the Magma Copper. Two years later, they welcomed their daughter, Sara-Abigail on Christmas Day 1983. Ysabel entered into eternal rest on March 28, 2019 in Globe, Arizona.   He is preceded in death by his parents, Ysabel Ortega Sr. & Manuela Gutierrez Ortega, his first wife Concepcion Ortega, and sisters: Ramona Madrid, Aurora Madrid, and Luz Madrid. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Meza Ortega, his daughter, Sara-Abigail Weimer, his sons, Henry Ortega and Ruben Ortega, and his nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.   *** CHANGE OF VENUE*** SATURDAY, APRIL 6, 2019: VISITATION: 12:00 - 1:00 PM SERVICE: 1:00 PM LIFE RESTORATION CENTER, 851 W.
