Wilma Gilbert also known as Dottie was born on January 23, 1944 to Helen Noline and Made McIntosh. She had 3 brothers and 5 sisters. She grew up in San Carlos up until she left for high school. She graduated from Sherman in Riverside, CA in 1966. While in school she would clean cabins in Big Bear. After graduating high school she went on to LA TradeTech of Nursing from 1966-1968, but did not finish. When she came back to San Carlos she worked at Peridot Mine Jewelry, OAC and CHR where she spent 13 years as a community health representative. She married her husband Leonard Gilbert on March 30, 1974. They had a daughter – Norina Bendle also known as Chubby Girl. Norina had four children: Myron, Andreana, Karina, and Jaylan. Due to her caring nature Dottie also raised many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Dottie is survived by her brother William McIntosh, grandchildren Myron, Andreana, Karina, Jaylan, Derrick and Hailey as well as her great-grandchildren Lanaya, Lovelle, Kaylin, Riley, Kayshawn, Myron Jr., Christian, D’Wayne and D’anna. She loved to sew, travel, try new recipes, maintain her roses, and listen to oldies (50’s/60’s era). She read her bible daily. She kept every picture that was given to her from family and friends. She had the kindest heart and soul. She will be greatly missed. She is preceded in death by her mother Helen, father Made, sisters: Emily Steele, Flora McIntosh, Richinda Polk, Irma McIntosh, Norma McIntosh, brothers: Willie, Allen, and Wayman. As well as her husband Leonard Gilbert, granddaughter Dreena, and daughter Norina Bendle.
