Beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Vernon (Ray) France, 74, passed peacefully in his sleep in Chandler, AZ, on Dec. 17th, 2022. Born on Feb. 28th, 1948, in Oklahoma City, OK, he was raised by his Mother, Dorothy Wilson. He was a Globe-Miami, AZ resident most of his life, retiring to Overgaard, AZ in his later years. He was happily married to Theresa Cochran for 30 years, losing her to Colon Cancer in 1999. His occupations were pipe fitter for Pinto Valley (union man), business owner, Gila County supervisor, and head of maintenance at Walmart. Ray always had a smile and kind word for everyone and was known for his friendly phrase, “Have a good one!” and "God bless you!". He was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and awarded the Purple Heart. An avid Jaycee, he volunteered for countless service organizations, including the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Easterseals, the Salvation Army, and the Gila County Food Bank. His creative pursuits included drawing, painting, and wood burning. He was also a man of the outdoors, enjoying off-road exploring, camping, and fishing. He was an Arizona Cardinals fan and loved his Westerns. Survived by his wife of 15 years, Rita Craig, sons, Jason Ray (Vickie), Jeremy Lee (Yvonne), and Justin Charles (Adrea), and nine grandchildren. The family held private services and asks that donations be made to the Department of Veterans Affairs in lieu of flowers Services to be held privately by the family.
