Stuart Herkenhoff died late Friday, 6/5, at age 74. The world has lost a rare, solid, badass human being, husband and father. His surviving wife, daughters, siblings, and relatives all dearly love him. Long before beginning his career as a US Forest Ranger, he had a deep love of nature and wildlife. He found great pleasure in sharing this passion - as well as his amazing stories and experiences - with everyone. If you were lucky to spend some time with him, you’d be sure to create some lifelong stories of your own to remember. Intelligent, kind, and capable, he’d teach you something new every time, but you learned early to watch out for his ingenious pranks and dry wit. His infectious laugh was sure to catch on. He spent his life protecting lives and homes from forest fires in some of the toughest terrain in the country. Stu never feared death - he lived life and braved feats that would have killed a lesser man much earlier. He is now off to his next great adventure. Services will be private.
