Rose Chendemi, 87, of the Menlo Park Terrace section of Woodbridge Township died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at Roosevelt Hospital in Edison. Born on Feb. 14, 1916, in Catano, Puerto Rico, she settled in Brooklyn, N.Y., and then moved to Menlo Park Terrace in 2002.
She was a social worker for the Borough of Brooklyn for 15 years. She retired in 1978. She was an avid Bingo player. She was very active with regard to patient rights and concerns at Roosevelt Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband, Danny Chendemi, in 1982.
She is survived by two daughters, Laura Knezevich of Menlo Park Terrace and Nilda Bjork of Prescott, two sons, Tony Alvarez of Brooklyn and Vincent Alvarez of Central Islip, Long Island, N.Y.; a sister, Flora Medina; seven brothers, Francisco Jimenez, Felix Jimenez, Fane Jimenez, Vincent Jimenez, Emil Jimenez, Jose Jimenez and Peter Jimenez; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
