Ronald Duane Owens,Who was born in Colfax, Iowa on September 5, 1949 to Charles and Esther (Borts) Owens passed away December 22, 2018 peacefully at home in Globewith his beloved dog, Bear by his side after a long battle from Dementia.Duane grew up in Colfax, graduated from Colfax High School in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968 and trained to become an Electronic Technician.After his Honorable discharge in 1978, he moved his family to Arizona where he began his career for the Federal Aviation Administration as an Electronic Technician working at his site in the Pinal mountains among other places throughout Arizona.Duane was a member of the Miami Elks for many years. He was part of a bowling league for awhile. He loved playing horseshoes back in the dayuntil he was introduced to cornhole. He loved nothing more than to be outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He had a passion for woodworking, gardening and tending to his many rose bushes. Duane is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Terry Owens, sister Kathy Owens.He is survived by his Loyal partner, Bear Dog, His daughter/caregiver Stephanie Gillum (Brandon), His son/hunting partner Rick Owens (Carrie), 4 grandsons, Justin Canizales, Devin Canizales, Ricky Casas, and Nicholas Brewer. 1 great granddaughter, Isabella Brewer and his sister Margaret Edwards of Iowa.A memorial service will be held Saturday January 5, 2019 at 10 am at Lamont Mortuary in Globe.
