In loving memory of our beloved Robinson Polk Sr. of Peridot, Arizona, who passed away peacefully in his home on October 25th, 2024. Born on Christmas Eve to Maggie Galson Polk and Albert Polk of Seven-Mile Wash District, Robinson shared his life with Patricia Nelson-Polk of Peridot District, together raising seven children.
In his early years, he worked alongside his father as a ranch hand at Circle Seven and Anchor Seven Ranch. He later became an underground miner, retiring from the industry with the Magma Copper Mine. As the eldest child of the Polk family, he absorbed a wealth of Apache traditions and customs from his grandfather, the late Fred Galson, also known as “Washington.” Robinson was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, as a testament to his strong family morals and values, he shared the responsibility of raising several of his nieces and nephews. His life and personality were deeply shaped by his early upbringing, and he loved sharing Apache stories and songs with all who visited him. His wish was for his family to carry forward his teachings.
He is survived by his children Samuel Polk, Timothy Polk Sr., & Faye Polk of Peridot. Siblings: Marthalene Polk, Imegene Bendle, Tracy Polk Sr. of San Carlos, & Brenda Rope of Bylas. He is proceeded in death by his wife Patricia Polk, sons Robinson Polk Jr., Tyrone Polk, Kalvin Polk, grandsons Ruben Polk & Jeffrey Polk, sister Betty George, brothers Larry Polk Sr., Elbert Polk Sr. & parents Maggie & Albert Polk.
