Richard B. Tellez, Sr.

Richard Tellez Sr. passed away peacefully with his family all around on December 17, 2023. He was born August 12, 1950, in Globe AZ. He is survived by his wife Maria Y. Tellez and his four children Richard (Jennifer) Tellez Jr., Eric M. Tellez Sr., Athena R. (James) Dunn and Melanie E. Tellez. He is also survived by his sisters Francis (Danny) Castaneda, Lucy (Henry) Benitez and Kathy (Greg) Winch. He is preceded in death by his parents Isidro and Manuela Tellez, his sister Dolly and His grandson Eric Tellez Jr. He had fifteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Richard Tellez grew up in Globe, AZ. He played in a band called the Midnight Special during his high school years. He was a very accomplished musician/singer. He graduated from Globe High School in 1968. He went on to graduate from DeVry Institute of Technology with a degree in electronics. Richard was a devoted Christian and became a Pastor at the young age of 23. He would spend the rest of his life fulfilling his minister's call. He pastored several different churches all while working and retiring from Magma Copper, Pinto Valley and Freeport Mines.

He loved spending time with his family and always looked for humor in things. He loved traveling with his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He valued God, Family and Church throughout his life. He left us with an example to follow in life and service to Jesus Christ. He will be missed by all his family and friends, but our lives will forever be touched by him now and forever.
