Richard Haynes Henderson

September 26, 1940 — April 10, 2024

Richard Haynes Henderson was born on September 26, 1940. At the age of 83 he passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at hospice of the valley in Gilbert Arizona with his family around him.

Richard was born and raised in Globe Arizona. After graduating from Globe High School in 1959 he immediately joins the United States Army for the next four years. Where he met his wife, Jackie they were married for 24 years. They had two children, Lori and Robert. Upon returning home, he received an electric apprenticeship with Inspiration Mining Company. After he retired, he opened an electrical contracting company serving our local area “Henderson Electric.”

He then spent his retirement years, living in Tonto Basin with his second wife, Sue. They called it homestead “basecamp” as they spent the rest of their lives traveling. After purchasing a motorhome, they visited every state in the United States at least one time. They also traveled to many foreign countries which included Africa, Peru, South America, France, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico.

Over the many years, Richard remained very active. He learned to tan hides, make knives, turquoise jewelry, and make wooden toys for the grandchildren for Christmas. He loved to tell stories, he would always say, “You want to hear a story?” Or “Let me tell you a story.” After all his traveling, the thing he most enjoyed was spending time in his own backyard. Feeding the many birds that visited him there at 3:00 PM every day with his close friends at happy hour. Everyone was invited and expected to attend. Richard also enjoyed his wrestling on Monday and Friday nights with a big bowl of popcorn!

In his younger days, Richard drove an antique fire engine truck in all the parades.  A chore he inherited from his father, Bert Henderson, enjoyed by both, and all that attended.

Richard is survived by his daughter Lori Siegel (Alan Weitz), his sister Fran Ritchey, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He will be missed greatly and is now home with family and friends. We love you lots dad.
