Rhyne “Tob” Dosela, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away on March 1, 2024, in Miami, Arizona. Born to Sally Ewing and Frank Dosela on October 9, 1954, Rhyne found solace and joy in his hometown of San Carlos, Arizona, where his roots ran deep.
Rhyne’s early years were a tapestry of laughter, camaraderie, and occasional mischief shared with his siblings. Graduating from Cottonwood High School in 1973, he pursued his passion for learning and community service at Utah Valley University and Phoenix College, ultimately earning his Legal Degree and discovering his love for the law.
Professionally, Rhyne became a cornerstone of the Arizona tribal legal community. His commitment to service was evident in his roles as a San Carlos Councilman, Tribal Judge, and Defense Attorney, where he tirelessly advocated for his community.
On October 7, 2017, Rhyne and his beloved Rowie were sealed for eternity in a ceremony performed at The Gila Valley Arizona Temple. Together, they cultivated a home filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of everyday life.
Rhyne’s legacy lives on through his cherished children: Rachel (Bryan), Shan (Mark), Jenni (Ace), Laini (Soa), and Stephen, and his beloved grandchildren: Gabrielle, Noah, Milo, Benjamin, Jona, Tuisoa, Zach, Trey, Addi, and Ali. Each one will fondly remember his boundless energy, infectious laugh, joy in watching classic comedy and western movies and an unwavering connection to nature.
Rhyne is preceded in death by his parents, sister Floradina Thomas, and nephews Peter, Benjamin, and Byron. He is lovingly remembered by his wife, children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
A celebration of Rhyne’s life will take place on March 9, 2024:
- Viewing: 6:00 at the Tribal Council Chambers, San Carlos, Arizona.
- Funeral Service: 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, San Carlos Branch.
- Interment to follow at the San Carlos Cemetery, with a reception afterward at the Gilson Wash Activity Center.
Escorting Rhyne on his final journey are Pallbearers: Stephen Dosela, James Osife, Noah Farner, Milo Farner, Benjamin Richards, and Jona Farner.
Honorary Pallbearers: Tuisoa Vaitai, Zach Vaitai, Trey Mack, Kristopher Dosela, Joseph Dosela, Azadishoye Nathan Darosa, Jason Darosa, Victor Howard, Peno Dosela, Arturo Sisneros, Aaron Sisneros, Devlin Nez, Lonnie Rivera, Joseph Ayala and Josh Scott.
Rhyne “Tob” Dosela’s story is one of love, dedication, and an enduring commitment to family and community. While he will be deeply missed, the seeds of kindness and compassion he planted will continue to flourish for generations to come.
