Raydean Dodd was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho on March 2, 1932, the only child of Dimond and Clara Christensen. In 1948 she moved to Mesa, Arizona. She graduated Mesa High School in 1950. After high school she attended Arizona State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education. Upon graduating she began her teaching career in the Cartwright School District in Phoenix, Arizona. She continued teaching various school districts for the next 15 years. In the summer of 1962, she worked at the Seattle’s Worlds Fair as a stamp setter for the first day covers of the commemorative stamps in honor of the World’s Fair. Thus, starting her love of stamp collecting. After that summer she began teaching in Coolidge, Arizona. In 1967 she moved to Miami, Arizona to teach elementary school. She retired from full time teaching in 1972. In 1970 she met her husband Russell E. Dodd and were married later the same year. Raydean was happy to have 2 sons that were from Russell’s previous marriage. They soon added to their family 2 daughters within 3 years. In 1980 Raydean returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher, where she remained for the next fifteen years. Raydean was very loving and caring mother which showed as she supported her children in their interests. Which included Girl Scouts, 4-H, and Music. As she continued to think of others, she volunteered within the community for various activities some that she was the proudest of were. Being the Red Cross Blood Drive Coordinator and a founding member of The Friends of the Globe Public Library. She also enjoyed various activities such as drawing, quilting, photography, and baking not to mention family history. She is survived by her two stepsons Russell Dodd (Deb Barker) and Carter Dodd (Lisa). Her daughters Rayel Starling (Thomas deceased) and Reta Yanik (Robert). Along with nine grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Russell and her parents. She will be greatly missed. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL SATURDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2020 AT 10:00 AM AT THE LDS STAKE CENTER IN GLOBE HER BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT THE GLOBE CEMETERY NEXT TO HER HUSBAND.
