Rachel Thompson, age 81, of San Carlos, Arizona passed away on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at San Carlos Apache Healthcare Center, in in Peridot, Arizona.
She was born in San Carlos, Arizona, on July 16, 1943, the daughter of Theodore Hooke and Lopez Adley Hooke.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed family time, cooking, especially her infamous Indian Tamales, and Tulapai. She liked sharing and teaching her traditional and cultural practices and values. Rachel was an avid seamstress sewing quilts, Apache Campdresses, shawls, saddle bags, abd Apache cradleboards. She liked playing Bingo, Apache Cards and solving word puzzles.
She is survived by her children Jolene Hoffman, Florene Thompson and Fitzgerald Thompson, Sr., her sister Nadine McDowell.
Rachel lived a long, beautiful life. Always surrounded by love of family. She always stressed the importance of knowing your Apache clans and all the relations. To always do good in life and help your family and community members. Her memory will never fade, and we will honor her by carrying forward the joy and love she brought into all of our lives.
She is preceded in death by her parents Theodore Hooke and Lopez Adley Hooke, her daughter Wanda Dazen, her siblings Alberta Mallow, Irene Goode, Andrita Bullis, Lolita Gibson, Lawrence Hooke, Sr. and Vernon Hooke, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Thompson Residence/Three Tanks Rd. at 4:00 P.M. in San Carlos, Arizona.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at American Indian Church in San Carlos, Arizona
She will be laid to rest at Northgate Cemetery in San Carlos, Arizona.
