Nelson Lee Smith

Nelson Lee who was named after his grandfather began his earthly journey on July 6, 2003. He was the 2nd child out of 7 born to Darren Smith and Melissa Cobb. Nelson was always known to be very respectful, caring, humble and most of all brave. He was a lifelong resident of Peridot, Az. His journey here on earth ended on August 31, 2023.

In his early years he was quite independent even as an infant, filled with ambition he started walking at 9 months. These characteristics followed him throughout his life.

Nelson attended kindergarten through high school within the San Carlos and Tucson Unified School District.

Nelson enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, swimming, and was often seen playing basketball with his friends. These friends, many of which he had lifetime bonds with, were basically his brothers. They met when they were little children as young as 3 or 4 years old. They grew up together, they struggled together, that brotherhood remains today.

Nelson was a loving father to Nevaeh. His love and adoration for his daughter was endless. They shared an attachment like no other.

Nelson is survived by his parents Darren Smith and Melissa Cobb. His daughter Nevaeh Allie Smith. His sisters Alissa, Danielle and Delicia Smith, and his brothers Paul and Derrick Smith. His fraternal grandmother, Deanna Smith, fraternal grandfather, Carlos Nosie. Great grandparents McKenzie and Marlene Smith. Also, many families and friends.

He was welcomed home by his sister, Allie Smith, and his brother Ali Smith, along with his maternal grandparents Nelson and Novena Cobb. Also, his longtime friend, Darius Terrazas.

Nelson will journey home one last time and laid to rest on September 10, 2023. Starting with a viewing at the PFC Michael A. Noline Activity in Peridot, AZ starting at 8 am. Followed my funeral services at noon. Burial to follow at Navajo Point Cemetary .
