Michael Emerson Starr, 69, of Peridot, AZ, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by family. Born on November 26, 1954, in McNary, AZ, to Edith Colelay Starr and George Starr Sr.
He attended Fort Thomas High School. Michael was known for his jovial nature and loved for telling jokes. He later met and married his wife Janice, and they had one son, Sidney. Mike had a strong affinity for the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and working on cars. He had a successful career as a security guard for the Indian Health Service at Whiteriver and San Carlos, Arizona and at Apache Gold Casino.
Additionally, he also worked as a seasonal fire fighter during the summer. Michael adored his granddaughters, Millie and Lucia and often took them on shopping trips and constantly chat about them non-stop. They were his world. He also enjoyed attending monthly elderly luncheons at the casino with his companion, Katherine.
He is survived by his companion, Katherine Black; his son, Sidney; his granddaughters Millie and Lucia. his brother George Starr Jr., as well as many nephews, nieces, friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Cobb Starr in 2014, his parents, Edith and George Starr Sr., brothers, Leo Starr and Abel Starr, his sisters Lenora Robertson, Carmelita Goseyun and Geraldine Starr Chatlin.
VIEWING WILL BE HELD ON AUGUST 4TH, 2024, AT 8:00AM AT THE LAMONT MORTUARY CHAPEL IN GLOBE, ARIZONA
SERVICE WILL BEGIN AT 10:00AM AT THE LAMONT MORTUARY CHAPEL.
BURIAL WILL FOLLOW AT THE SAN CARLOS CEMETERY IN SAN CARLOS, ARIZONA.
