Marlene Barton

Marlene “Sonia” Barton, 49 years old of Mesa, Arizona passed away on April 2, 2022. Born in Phoenix, Arizona on June 23, 1972 she was the daughter of George Longstreet and the late Darlene Longstreet of San Carlos, Arizona.

For most of her career, Marlene worked in the Early Childhood field. From an early age, she knew she loved working with the younger students and soon after pursued a degree in Early Childhood Education. She graduated from Eastern Arizona College. Following her passion, she had the opportunity to work at different childcare centers throughout the valley fulfilling her desire to teach the younger students.

Marlene was a passionate believer in her Savior, Jesus Christ and strove to emulate the love he had for all. She was a guiding light of hope for those that others had given up on, sticking by and guiding them through the turmoil in their life. Marlene was also protective and supportive of those she loved and said a prayer daily for everyone she loved, near and far.

Marlene loved spending time with her family. Her grandkids especially, they brought her so much joy. She shared a special bond with each one and her love for all of them shined through her radiant smile as they came running through the front door to greet her or as she listened to them talk about their day.

She enjoyed reading her bible, listening to KLOVE, playing volleyball, going to her grandkids basketball games & cheering the loudest, going on walks, spending any her free time with her grandchildren, playing Wordscapes and Blitz on her phone, and being at Disneyland!

Marlene is survived by her father, George Longstreet. Husband, Rick Barton. Sisters: Kara McBride, Tara Cordts & Kimberly Hernandez. Sons: Eric Barton and Brandon Barton. Daughters: Bridget Barton, Tori Barton, and Peyton Dude. 5 grandchildren.

We will miss her immensely and will hold dear the memories we have been fortunate enough to have shared with her.
