Marilyn Rose Hicks

May 10, 1931 — June 23, 2022

Marilyn Rose Hicks was born to C.E. Shreeve and Dicy Shreeve on May 10, 1931 in Globe, Arizona. She attended Globe schools and graduated from Globe High School in 1949. She married Roy Hicks in 1950.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ermy Walliman, and her brother C.E. Shreeve, Jr. She is survived by her husband Roy of 72 years; daughter Karen (Lavery) of Lakeside, AZ; sons Ken and Melvin (Penny) Hicks of Wheatfields; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was a homemaker, a great cook, and a wonderful seamstress. Many cowboys depended on her to provide meals during round up on the old Hicks Ranch where she hauled meals to all parts of the range.

When she wasn’t cooking her hands were always busy doing household chores, sewing clothes for the family, and doing handicrafts. She was loved and respected as one of the last pioneer ranching women from Gila County.

At her request there will be no services.
