MARIA CONSUELO KOLBECK

August 24, 1963 — February 14, 2025

MIAMI

Maria Consuelo Kolbeck, better known as “Chello” was born August 24, 1963, in the small town of Miami, AZ to Joaquin and Alicia Garcia. Chello passed into eternal life on February 14, 2025, at Chandler Regional Medical Center.

Chello left Miami, AZ to live her life in Phoenix, as many of us call “the valley”. She worked more than half her life as a devoted “sun devil” working for ASU as the classroom Scheduling Coordinator. For all who knew her, she was a firecracker and the life of the party. She loved music and dancing the nights away to her oldies, thrift store shopping, trips to the beach and Old Town San Diego and lately she loved spending time getting to know her granddaughter, Lily, her “happy girl”. For all who knew her, she never met a stranger because she would talk to anyone – for HOURS, but she made so many lifelong friends being the social butterfly she was.

Chello was a mom to MANY adopted kids along the way that were her children’s friends turned family. She always had an open door to anyone who needed it and would tell us all “if you ever need a place, you have a home here, we will find a way”. She was an avid collector of Dreamsicles and a lover of Eeyore – who she embodied fully with how much she loves her naps. Chello embraced everyone and no matter who you were, she would bless you before you left her and give you the warmest hug.

Chello leaves behind her two children, her daughter Alicia (Bubbas), and her son, Nathaniel (Pudge). She was also finally promoted to Nana with her granddaughter, Lily (Mama, Happy Girl). She also leaves behind her fur baby Penelope Rose (PP) who lit up her life. Chello is survived by her three sisters Dolores Gonzales, Maria Moreno, and Angelita Jin as well as many family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Joaquin and Alicia.

Chello was taken too soon and unexpectedly, leaving a void in many of our hearts and lives for reasons unknown. Her jokes, laughs, dancing, phone calls (and facetimes of staring at her forehead) will be greatly missed. The world is little dimmer, but heaven is a lot brighter with her up there as our guardian Angel. She is dancing away with her mother, friends, and family up there until we meet again. She will be forever missed and loved (more than infinity and beyond, plus google plus tax – as she would tell her daughter).
