Johnathan Bowman, Sr. was born January 26, 1964, in Whiteriver, Arizona to Verna Wallen and John Hoskie. He lived his younger years in Cibeque, Arizona, raised by his grandmother until he was adopted into the Bowman family.
His adopted father was in the Air Force, so he was always moving around.
He went to school in Great Falls, Wyoming up through 11th grade. After that, he came home to Cibeque, where his grandfather had to teach him how to speak Apache again through prayer and ceremony.
Johnathan loved the outdoors. He loved to fish, ride horses, or just be outside in the woods.
Johnathan was also a traditional person. He loved to sing Apache songs, and used to camp sing with his friends.
He met his wife in San Carlos, Arizona at her sister’s house, and after a few years decided to marry her and they moved to Phoenix, Arizona.
He worked as a laborer, mechanic, and his last job was housekeeping at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center.
He loved all his children, even though he didn’t get to raise all of them, he always thought about them. He only got to raise and take care of one child, and he took her with him everywhere.
