John Stewart Beamon

November 15, 1945 — August 2, 2022

We are celebrating the life of John "Stu" Stewart Beamon. He was surrounded by his loved ones when he went to be with the Lord on August 2,2022. Born November 15,1945 to Ruth and William S. Beamon Jr.

He had a life full of adventure, love, family and friends. He was born in Virginia and grew up next to an astronaut named John Glenn. Which probably helped fan the flames for his knowledge of airplanes.

When the Vietnam war broke out he volunteered in 1966 for 3 years as an Army paratrooper and signalman radio operator for troops on the ground. He had an honorable discharge in 1969 where he received several medals including Army Commendation medal and 2 Purple Hearts. During this time he met and married his love, Georgia. They had two kids; Samantha and Christopher.

They moved to Florida where he was a policeman for a year. Then they moved to Arizona where he worked in construction. When the postmaster called in 1972 and offered him a job they packed up and moved to Globe. Where he’s been ever since. He worked as a mail carrier for the first twenty years walking the hills of Globe, through the sleet, wind, rain, hail, and heat delivering mail. The last 10 years he worked as a clerk where he truly enjoyed visiting and helping people. After 31 years he retired. He worked as a security guard for several years before fully retiring.

He enjoyed building and creating models. He loved airplanes and knew every airplane built. He loved to fly.

He was a trickster and enjoyed making costumes for Halloween. Like one time when he took out his glass eye, dressed as Frankenstein and filled a glove with water attached it to his hand then greeted the trick-or-treaters at the door and shook their hand. They loved it.

He was an amateur artist where he won several awards through the years with oil, pencils, acrylic, and photos.

He also enjoyed being an extra in movies made in Globe. Some of the movies he played in were The Covenant, the Beast from 20,000 Fathoms, Shouting Secrets, and Midnight Run.

He and his wife Georgia had many people come and go through their life. Everyone was loved like family.

After his wife and brother passed he followed his heart and got a trike. Of course, he never followed the crowd and got a backwards trike. He enjoyed making jokes about his Spyder with his biker friends at the local watering holes while drinking his Shirley Temple.

To all his friends he would say, “Keep the wind in your face and the bugs out of your teeth”.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruth and William Beamon Jr. His brother, William Beamon lll. and his wife Georgia Beamon. Leaving behind his daughter, Samantha (Ben) Pierpont, son Chris (Sara) Beamon, grandkids Chenoa (Marcus Alviar) Yanora, Nathaniel (Jasper) Yanora, great grandchild Sage Alviar. Honorary grandchildren: Derral Warden, Kenneth Warden, Thomas Warden, Timmy Warden and Brittany Perry.
