Joan Evelyn Berray-Allen

Joan Evelyn Berray Allen, age 86 passed away on July 2nd, 2023, at Heritage Health Care Center in Globe, Arizona.

She was born in Los Angles, California on December 5th, 1936, to Jane Hoffman Berray and Tom Berray. The family often traveled for business, and she spent some of her childhood in Mexico and in other Latin countries. Joan went to college in Portland, Oregon but she spent time at both Reed College and Portland State University. She then moved to Arizona in 1983 to be a caretaker for her mother. Joan felt very connected with her family roots in Globe. Her father, Tom Berray, was the co-owner of Globe Hardware Store and her grandfather was also the director there.

She enjoyed reading, especially about history and had a passion for genealogy. Joan was a home maker for most of her life and she also cared about animal welfare and often donated time to animal right causes.

She is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Jane (Hoffman) Berray.

She is survived by her daughters Paulette Copperstone and Emma Allen, granddaughter Samantha Copperstone, brother John Berray and nieces and nephews.
