Jo Ann Termain

October 13, 1940 — April 23, 2021

Jo Ann Termain, age 80, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Seminole, OK and then moved with her family to Miami, Arizona in 1948. She graduated from Miami High School in 1958. Jo Ann and Robert Michael (Mike) Termain were married on August 16, 1958 at Holy Angels Church. They lived in Tempe and Flagstaff where Mike pursued his degree in education and Jo Ann worked to support him. She and Mike moved back to Globe to be with family and raise their own family. They lived there until the day she passed. Jo Ann was a voracious reader. Once her boys were in middle school, she took that passion to Arizona State University where she earned a Bachelors of Education in 1981. Grounded in reading and elementary educational skills, she taught and positively impacted hundreds of 5th graders at East Globe Elementary School for over 20 years. During her life Jo Ann created lifelong bonds and relationships with all she encountered in Globe and during her travels around the world. She was extremely interested in family genealogy, which led her and Mike to locate family members in Oklahoma, Missouri, and Croatia. She and Mike traveled there many times over the years to visit relatives. Their Croatian experience led to her involvement in the Slavic Cultural Center at Bullion Plaza. Jo Ann and Mike were world travelers. They visited England, Europe, Greece, Turkey, The Czech Republic, Hungary, Turkey as well as traveling across the United States and Alaska. Jo Ann was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents Irma and Elsie Edward Scates. She is survived by her husband Mike of 62 years, her sons Aaron (Kary) and Chris (Kim), her grandchildren Siarra, Elle, and Ty, her sister in law Patricia (Termain) Eliason, brother Edward Scates and her sister Debbie Campbell. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation on behalf of Jo Ann to the Slavic Cultural Center at Builion Plaza. Services will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Holy Angels Church Parish Hall. Rosary will begin at 10:30. Mass will follow at 11:00, with limited capacity restrictions.
