James Overby

James Paul Overby, age 64, of Globe, Arizona passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center in Globe, Arizona. He was born in Oakpark, Illinois on August 20, 1956. He was the son of Paul Arthur Overby and Mavis (Hemenway) Overby. James graduated from Saguaro High School and continued to support and follow their football team the Saber Cats for the next 4-5 decades. He delivered newspapers, cleaned pools, landscaping , and worked as a purchasing agent for Avnet (electronic components distributor) from the warehouse and worked his way up in the company. James enjoyed the 1980’s, the childhood movie “Wizard of Oz”, he loved the Michigan Wolverines college football, U of A Wild Cats, Oklahoma Sooners, pro football Detroit Lions and the Arizona Cardinals. James followed football to a T. He was a civil war buff, dabbled in poetry and was a dog lover. He was honorably discharged from Army training (his asthma stopped him from going further). He was full of pride and was loved by his family and his pals.

James is survived by his daughters, Kristy Overby of Globe and Krystal Overby of Tucson, Arizona, his five brothers; Fred Overby of Hayden, Dale Overby of Apache Junction, Dean Overby of Kearny, Scott Overby of Sun City, and Robin Overby of Kearny, Arizona.
