Henry Fresquez

With a loving tribute, Henry Fresquez, who had a contagious smile and witty sense of humor was born in Llano, NM on October 8, 1932, to P. and Amalia Fresquez.  Henry passed away on May 7, 2024, at 11:58 am surrounded by family.

Henry attended Penasco High School, then joined the Army.  His service to his country included fighting in the Korean War.  He was awarded a Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal.  In 1957, Henry married his wife, Rose Miera, celebrating 67 years of marriage. Together they raised 5 children, Gloria, Pat, Debbie, Retta, and Manny.  Henry spent his life as a copper miner.  Throughout the years, they lived in Ely, Nevada, Grants, New Mexico, Bisbee, Arizona and finally made Globe/Miami, AZ home in 1964. In 1994, Henry retired from Cypress Miami Copper Corp.

Henry always made sure that there was time to play.  He spent his free time fishing at Seneca, Point of Pines, and the White Mountains. He was also quite the fly fisherman in streams.  He enjoyed camping and hunting, and his grandchildren were often in tow on these adventures.  Henry never rested, he could be found outside attending to the plants and trees, collecting cans, and working on various crafts from wood.  He was also a great helper in the kitchen, especially during tamale season.  Henry could always be heard whistling or singing while he worked around the house. Most importantly, he spent time helping to raise his grandchildren.

Henry is survived by his children, Gloria (Terry Sonico) of Martinez, CA, Pat (Brian Miller) of Flagstaff, and Manny Fresquez of Gilbert.   Henry was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren, and brother Eli Fresquez (Dora) of Grand Junction, CO.

Henry is preceded in death by his loving wife, Rose, his mother, Amalia Fresquez, brother, Joe Fresquez, daughters Debbie Ruiz and Retta Masloff, and granddaughter Ashley Fritz.

Henry will be forever remembered, forever missed!
