Henry Gus Colvin, Jr.

Henry Gus Colvin, Jr. passed away December 12, 2023, at the age of 88 at his home in Prescott Valley surrounded by family after a battle with liver cancer. Henry was born in Globe, AZ in a little house on Devereaux Street across from St. Peter's Lutheran Church to Henry and Lucy (Barraza) Colvin. Henry grew up in Ruiz Canyon where he made many lifelong friends and attended Globe High School graduating in 1953. During his lifetime, he travelled across the country working for companies such as General Motors and the Fred Astaire Dance Studio. After returning to Arizona, Henry joined the Operating Engineers Local 428 as a heavy equipment operator and surveyor. He worked on several notable Arizona projects: the missile sites near Tucson, Palo Verde Power Plant, raised the smokestack in Hayden, and the Grayhawk Development. There were also numerous road construction projects including the I-17 near Black Canyon City, (I-10) Salome and (I-15) St. George, Utah. He had been a member of Gila County Search & Rescue. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rock hounding. He was a member of the Roadrunner's Prospector's Club. He is survived by his wife, Judy, sons Chris Colvin and Patrick (Connie) Colvin, daughters Wendy (Tim) Gaynor, Angela (Kenneth) Buchanan, and grandchildren Brianna (Bryan) Cooper, Christa Colvin, Kayla Colvin, Steven Earven, Zechariah (Christa) Colvin and great granddaughters Chasity and Kenna. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Lucy Colvin, granddaughter Shaina Colvin, grandson Joshua Earven. Assisting the family; Lamont Mortuary of Globe located at 328 S.
