Longtime resident of Claypool, Gilbert A. Renteria passed away on October 27 th at Cobre Valley Hospital.
Gilbert was originally born in Bisbee, Az where he spent the first 17 years of his life. He enlisted in the
United States Marine Corps at the age of 17 and spent a tour of duty in the Vietnam War. After the war
Gilbert returned to Bisbee and then moved to Claypool where he spent the remainder of his life. He
worked for the mining company in Miami as a Boilermaker Welder until his retirement. Outside of his
full-time job he spent his time working his side business of creating wrought iron items for customers
such as security doors, gates and other items requested by customers. He was an avid hunter and
fisherman who love to spend his time in Greer with family during the summers. He is survived by his
wife Mary Renteria, two daughters Lisa Nugent and Cynthia Salas, two son-in-laws, Lance Nugent and
Alejandro Salas and his four grandchildren Ariella Salas, Alyssa Salas, Angelina Salas and Samantha
Nugent. He will be greatly missed by many. Services will be held on November 19th at 9:30 am at the
Miami Church with a Luncheon immediately afterwards at Guayo’s El Rey in Miami.
