George Hernandez

George G Hernandez, 89 of Claypool, AZ passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Apache Junction on May 26th. George was born in Globe, Arizona on September 23, 1932 to Librado Rosas and Maria Hernandez. He graduated from Globe High School in 1950. After graduation, he joined the Navy where he served four years as a pipe fitter. Upon leaving the Navy he was then employed by the State of Arizona as a surveyor. After leaving his job with the state, he was then employed by Cyprus Mining and Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company. George then worked and retired from Gila County where he maintained the Little League fields and the surrounding community. George is most known for his love of the New York Yankees, his years of coaching, the pride in his work at the Little League fields and for waving to everyone as they drove by. George leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Genevieve, his brother Art Guerra, and 11 children: George, Alfred, Mike (Dolores), Annarose, Deanna, Anna (Pat), Michele (Bill), Lisa, Daniel, Georgianna (Aaron) and David (Amanda). 38 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. George is preceded in death by his daughter Theresa Ortega.
