George E. Gallegos Sr. passed away Thursday January 14, 2021 at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, AZ. George was born in Socorro, NM to Domingo and Cruzita Gallegos. He attended school in Globe, AZ through the 10th grade. At the age of 16 he wanted to join the National Guard. With the help of his oldest sister Yvonne and her signature on the forms, he began his journey completing basic training at Fort Ord, CA. After basic training George returned to NM and met his wife Candie in 1957. The couple married November 1958 and relocated to Globe, AZ by 1960. George picked up work at the Tony Daou’s Market in 1961 through 1963 stocking cans and carry out. George started working at the Inspiration Mine in 1964 as a Front Load Operator in the Smelter, retiring 27years later from the company. George was known best for his dancing moves and favorite past time at the casino (cha-ching!). George leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Candie Gallegos, his brother Tomas Gallegos (Rosie) of Phoenix,AZ, and his three children George Gallegos Jr. (Diane) of Socorro, NM, Diana Minefee (Cory) of Tucson, AZ, and Nadine Dixon (Ray) of Phoenix, AZ. In addition to his beloved wife and children, George leaves behind 5 grandsons, 5 granddaughters, and 30 great-grandchildren. George was preceded in death by his parents Domingo and Crusita Gallegos, sisters Evan Balderas and Maria Gallegos. Viewing will be on Thursday January 28, 2021 at 3:00PM at Lamont Mortuary in Globe, AZ. A Memorial Service at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church will be announced.
