Ernest Robles

Ernest Robles, 92 Ernest Robles, 92 years old, of Globe, Arizona, passed away on March 18, 2021. He was part of a large family with seven siblings. Ernest joined the Navy at the age of 17, which meant that his mother had to sign the consent form for him to join. He was in the Navy for 2 years and was able to see many parts of the world aboard the U.S.S. Astoria. After being honorably discharged, he lived in Los Angeles for a time, but eventually moved back to Globe. Through the G.I. Bill, he received training then bought and ran several gas stations in the local area. After being in the gas station business for many years, Ernest was looking for a change and went to work at Inspiration Copper Company. He started as an underground miner and eventually became a drilling and blasting foreman at Christmas Open Pit Mine. He then worked at the Miami Smelter, finally transferring to the SX Plant at the Miami Open Pit. After working there for several years, he retired. Ernest kept himself busy during his retirement by acquiring many rental homes in the area. His days were always busy with the management and repairs to his many properties. Ernest is preceded in death by his daughter Linda Garner and son Ernie Robles Jr. Ernest is survived by his daughter Jo Ann Steele (Craig), his sister Angela Tolley, his brother Bill Robles, and grandsons Jay and Andy Garner. He is also survived by great grandchildren including, Chy and Hunter Garner; 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be private.
