Earl Junior Carnell, age 91, of Claypool, AZ, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Haven of Globe Nursing Facility in Globe, AZ. Born on February 8, 1931, in Bisbee, AZ to parents, William Earl Carnell and Gladys Marie Dye. He attended Globe High School and lived most of his life in the globe area.
Earl started his adult life as soon as possible. He found his one and only true love, Loretta Witt. He and Loretta were married for 69 years. He served in the United States Navy being based in California, until he was deployed to Korea. When he returned to Arizona, he wasted no time and became an Arizona Highway Patrolman. He worked for the Arizona Department of Public Safety for many years and retired as a Sergeant. He was the first officer to be stationed in the Payson, AZ area and a member of the first S.W.A.T. Team in Arizona. Earl took his position/career seriously and pretty much knew every road in the State of Arizona. In his earlier days you would see him walking everywhere to stay healthy. During the summers he enjoyed spending time with his family on Roosevelt Lake where they would all go to swim, water ski, and just spend quality time with his family. Earl liked taking his truck down any old dirt road with Loretta just to see where it went. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish Earl’s memory include his wife, Loretta Witt Carnell of Claypool, AZ; daughter, Deborah Carnell of Chandler, AZ; 2 sons, Craig Carnell of Mesa, AZ, and Gary Carnell of Chandler, AZ; 5 grandchildren, Kristen, Robin, Michael, Matthew, and Kailee; 1 great- grandchild, Paisley.
Any donations can be made to the 100 Club Arizona or Veterans association of America.
A private Memorial Service will be held by the family at a later date.
