Darlene Rope

September 9, 1954 — October 30, 2020

Darlene Rope was born on September 09, 1954 on the San Carlos Apache Reservation, Arizona to Herbert Dosela and Frieda Boni (Bullis). Beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother entered her Heavenly home on October 30, 2020 at Abrazo Heart Hospital, Glendale, Arizona. Darlene grew up on the San Carlos Apache Reservation in Gilson Wash. Attended Peridot Our Savior’s Lutheran School and went on to attend Phoenix Indian High school. She held several occupations that included working for the Seneca Restaurant/Motel, San Carlos Café, JTPA, Tribal Court and her last position in housekeeping at the San Carlos Apache Gold Casino. She enjoyed attending all family gatherings, playing scrabble, solving crossword puzzles, watching western tv shows, listening to KYAY/Apache songs. She enjoyed a warm sunny day on her front doorsteps. Loved Mexican food and traditional acorn soup. Darlene loved her family very much, and frequently expressed that love on birthdays with an outpouring of gifts. Her sister called her the boss as she was bossy and liked to tease and joke. Her grandkids called “Grandma D” and some called her “Darla”. If she teased or got mad at you it was always from a place of love. At dialysis she picked up the nickname “hot lips” and often teased her nurses, technicians and NEMT drivers. She loved the company of her grandchildren the most, who visited her often. She was a very giving person! She often said she prayed for everyone. A woman of prayer. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and attended services regularly, shared her belief with her children who will carry on those teachings. She leaves behind a large family that loved her deeply and will miss her forever. She is survived by her Stepfather Michael Boni, husband Walker Rope Jr, brother Norman Boni, sisters Anita (Elvis) Irving Sr. and Osilia Boni. Along with her children, son Christopher (Rosalita) Gooday, daughter Ernestine (Fernando E.) Cruzado, daughter Sylvia (Steven) Pahe Jr. and son Andrew (Juanita) Rope.
