Danny Joe Rice, Sr.

Danny Joe Rice, Sr was born on September 17, 1954, in Globe, Arizona to parents Eugene Franklin Rice Jr and Laurella Elsbeth Leigh Rice.

Danny was one of three children. His older sister was Claire Ann Rice, and his older brother was Lanny Gene Rice. His childhood home was on East Cottonwood Street. As a child, he enjoyed outdoor activities with his family and friends.  He especially liked to fish and spent many summers with his grandfather at the Prescott cabin doing just that.

Danny graduated Globe High School and spent time attending NAU in Flagstaff.  He eventually returned to Globe to work with his dad in the family business - Gene Rice Company, specializing in air conditioning and glass work.   He and his brother Lanny took over the business in 1999 and ran it until it closed.

Danny moved on from Globe to work with the Department of Immigration and also the Public Transit Authority in Phoenix supporting the East Valley Light Rail.

Danny liked to bowl and participated in many leagues in the Globe Miami area.  He was a classic car enthusiast and spent time rebuilding and showing an old Mustang.  Later in life, he spent his free time doing wood working projects.

Danny passed quietly on January 1, 2025, in his home in Florence, Arizona.

Danny is survived by his daughter, Melissa Rice and granddaughter Bailey Rice
