Dale C. Miles

August 21, 1949 — August 6, 2021

Dale Curtis Miles, 71, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, entered eternal life Friday, Aug. 6, 2021. Glory to God! Dale was home in San Carlos, Az., surrounded by his loved ones, and left peacefully and courageously.

Dale was born in San Carlos on Aug. 21, 1949 to David and Marjorie Miles. When he was three, the family moved to Phoenix. Dale was raised in church and from a very young age became a lifelong, avid seeker of knowledge. He attended Sierra Vista and MC Cash Elementary, Carl Hayden High School, Phoenix College, Grand Canyon University, ASU and NAU.

As a young man Dale was a wildland firefighter and worked in the copper mine. He later held a series of Tribal positions where he demonstrated his dedication to his people, instilling the value of education. Dale holds the distinctive privilege of being the first San Carlos Apache Tribe Cultural Center Administrator and Apache Historian. Dale had immense knowledge of the historic journey of the Apache, took great care to keep this knowledge factually based and exercised great honor to his beloved people, the Apaches, in doing so. Most notably, he loved the Lord.

Dale will be sorely missed by his wife Sheryl; sons Dylan, Aaron, Elias and Levi Miles; daughter Angelina Burgett; brothers David, Duane, Dwight and Douglas Miles; and sisters Arlene Kast, Frances Ringlero, Joanne Miles-Long and Sharon Miles. Dale is on his journey to see his beloved parents David and Marjorie Miles, brothers Daniel and Ronald Miles, sister Norma Fowler and grandson Andru Miles.

The family extends a special thank you to the Living Waters Church, Lamont Mortuary and the San Carlos Apache Tribe.

Services were held Saturday, Aug. 14, 2021 at Living Waters Church, and interment was in San Carlos Cemetery.
