Claude Anthony Phillips

February 21, 1945 — November 17, 2021

Claude Anthony Phillips, age 76, was born in Globe, Arizona on February 21, 1945 to Juliet Cabral of Globe, Arizona and Claude Allen Phillips of Trammell, West Virginia. He was to be the only child born of this union. His father was serving in the U.S. Army and was killed in action in Okinawa, Japan. Father and son never met but are now going to unite in God's Kingdom.

Claude was a 1964 graduate of Globe High School where he excelled in basketball and baseball all four years. He attended Eastern Arizona Junior College in Thatcher, Arizona and then went on to U of M in Coral Gables, Florida where he was signed to play professional football for the British Columbia Lions in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. An injury sidelined that career and he returned to Globe. He worked as a Recreational Director/ Coach for the Job Corps in San Carlos until it closed. He went on to work Arizona Department of Corrections at the local prison until retiring.

Claude was preceded in death by his father, Claude Allen and mother, Juliet Cabral Cisterna, paternal grandparents, John Christian Phillips and Pearl Ramsey Phillips, maternal grandparents, Alfonso B. and Bibiana Cabral, maternal uncles, Alfonso and Richard Cabral.

He is survived by his only sister, Christyne Cisterna of Phoenix, AZ, Aunt Maria Young of Payson, AZ, and Aunt Patricia C. Davis of Tennessee.

Claude led a private and solitary life. His hobbies include art, cooking, and going to the casino along with helping his fellow man. He was a kind and gentle giant who marched to the beat of his own drum.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at Lamont Mortuary of Globe Chapel. Interment will be held at a later date at the Globe Cemetery.
