Charles Derhammer went home to Heaven January 13, 2023. He was born November 8, 1945 in Tipperary , Ireland. His father, Charles A. Derhammer, was an American soldier. He met and married Nora O’Donnell in Ireland. Nora and her baby came to the United States to be with Charles. They settled in Noxen, PA. Charlie graduated from Tunkhannock High School in 1963. He met and married Deidre Connelly in 1967. The two of them moved around the country while Charlie worked on pipe lines. The couple then moved to Florida where Charlie went to training to become an Operating Engineer. The couple had two children in Florida, Phaedra and Daniel. Charlie then learned the welding trade and worked for the Boilermakers Union building oil tanks. This brought the family to many interesting places. Charlies dream, however was to live in Wyoming. They finally moved there in 1977. Charlie loved to hunt and had a hunting horse for elk. He loved the outdoors and building and inventing things.
After the children grew up, Deidre got a job in San Carlos, Arizona; they moved to teacher apartments for a couple years. Charlie began working for Brown Tank and Steel and became the foreman. It was in San Carlos that they acquired their three grandsons, Joshua, Jesse, and Christopher. That was a happy time for both of them. They bought a house at Top of the World. It was their “Forever House.” Charlie loved all of his children so much. He loved to go to games and support them with his love and wisdom.
Charlie was predeceased by his baby brother Walter, his father, Charles Derhammer, his mother, Nora Derhammer and daughter, Phaedra Santillo. Charlie is leaving behind his wife, Deidre, son, Daniel, five grandchildren: Joshua Derhammer, Christopher Derhammer, Jesse Lusk, Kaitlyn Derhammer, and Kaleb Derhammer, plus four sisters: Nora Williams, Mary Woodward, Edna Manning, and Patricia Doble.
He will be terribly missed by all.
