Today, the 29th day of July, our hearts are broken as we all mourn the loss of our beloved older sister, Charlene. Her bright light and big heart left us too soon, but we will remember her warmth, love, and generosity.
Charlene taught us all some fundamental lessons while she made her short journey through life. Of which, the most memorable was to get to know Jesus as your personal savior. She would say, “there is no other way but through Jesus, He is the way, the truth and the life.” “Glory be to God and the Joy of the Lord is our strength” is a couple of phrases she continuously stated.
We will miss our big sister, as will those she impacted throughout her life, from friends and family to the work she did with the San Carlos Unified School District from where she retired.
Charlene H. Brown, 71, is survived by her only daughter Carrie Thompson, her son Mark Anthony Brown (Linda), her grandsons Andrew Brown, Cohen Brown and one great-grandson, Braden Rider Brown. Her brothers, Howard Hooke Jr. (Juanita), Harding Hooke (Selma), Councilman Simon Hooke, Malcolm Hooke (Sally), and her sisters, Cheryl H. Mull (Marvin Jr.), Karen Hooke-Johnson (Terry), Peggy Cassa, and Cassandra Chewning (Jonathan). Along with many, many, nieces, and nephews.
She is proceeded into death with her husband, Tommie Brown, her son Timothy Patrick Brown, her parents, Howard Hooke Sr. & Nancy P. Hooke and her two brothers, Hardt Hooke and Samuel “Chummy” Hooke.
