Our Heavenly Father has called his faithful servant, Catherine (Olsen) Kinnard, age 85, back to her heavenly home. Her life of toil, strife and pain is now over.
Catherine was born to Harry and Mildred Olsen on April 23, 1937 in Safford Arizona. Growing up on a farm of cotton, corn and pigs taught her about the importance of hard work, and integrity.
In college she met a handsome young man named Bud Lee Kinnard from Miami, Arizona and they were married on October 19, 1957, in the Mesa Arizona Temple. The little farmer girl from Safford moved to the mining town of Miami. She once said that it was a “culture shock”.
Their little family grew to seven when five children joined them. Later there were six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Catherine was an only child and wanted a large family. She enjoyed sharing time and her passions with her family and friends.
Catherine always loved animals, especially cats, and has always had them in her life and home. She enjoyed reading anything that she could get her hands on and personally knew all the librarians at the Miami Library. History was a passion of hers, especially church history, she could not get her fill. She once said that she could go wherever she wanted in the world when she was reading a book. Being a lifelong member of, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she absolutely loved studying the scriptures and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She really shined as a teacher of the gospel in the many callings that she served in, including being called to service missions in the San Carlos and Superior branches of the church.
Catherine is proceeded in death by her parents. She is survived by her children Kat Loera (Cesar) of Globe, AZ, Kay Kinnard of Globe, AZ, Lee Kinnard (Jennifer), Kari Pratt (Ted) of Globe, AZ, Wes Kinnard of Casa Grande along with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the High Desert Humane Society of Globe, Arizona.
Assisting the family; Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
