Life Story of Bobby Shorten and Grandfather of many Bobby shorten was born April 3, 1963 on the San Carlos apache Reservation in his homestead of Peridot, Arizona, and his parents were Nancy and Silas Shorten. Bobby grew up in the Peridot District with his brothers Wayne Cly and his sister Pearlita Cly Noline who are now deceased.In his younger years; Bobby faithfully attended Rice School until fourth grade, then he had an opportunity to participate in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Placement Program. So, Bobby moved to the sunny state of California until his junior and high school years, then he transferred back to Globe High School.During his free time, Bobby enjoyed walks using the surrounding trails or creating his own, so other people could enjoy exercising. His favorite outdoor activity was hunting in the wild, fishing in the calmness of the lakes while camping and seeking hiking areas. He took full advantages of his Apache land and enjoyed the recreational areas of the San Carlos Apache Reservation. The most interesting part of Bobby’s character was his love for art and how people appreciated his art work.Bobby had many trades, such as heavy equipment operator, a landscaper and used his skill working in Bowie, Wilcox area during his mid-years. He never complained of tough work, because he was a hard workerIn the year of 1987, while employed as a construction worker, Bobby met Retina Clendon at a restaurant located in Deming, New Mexico. The “love at first site” acquaintance started the courtship of 13 years and eventually both Bobby and Retina moved back to Bylas, Arizona. During this time, based on their love and commitment Renita Shorten Moses was born in Bylas, Arizona. Bobby was a dedicated father and help to fill the role as a father raising Renita.Bobby was a very simple lovable person, who would greet people with a friendly handshake, an he would acknowledge each person by their name. He did not hesitate to help family or friends who were in need. Even if he was required at a moment’s notice Bobby never complained, but chose to help with what he could. He sacrificed for people in need beyond his abilities, because of his faith and love through Jesus Christ.In ending, Bobby met Shirley Martin whom he shared his life with for 20 years. They met each other in 1997 while driving around where Bobby winked at Shirley and that was the start of another romance.Once again, Bobby is survived by his children Renita Shorten and son-in-law Myrice Moses, his son Isaiah Dona all of Bylas, Arizona. Including his siblings Ross Dia and Wilson Cly of Peridot, Arizona, two grandchildren and his companion Shirley Martin. Funeral Services were held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Gilson LDS Church. Interment at Northgate Cemetery.
