Mrs. Betty Valencia of Globe passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of Monday, January 24 th at the age of 80 years old.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 63 years, Gilbert Valencia, her daughters Debbie Tower, Deanna Garcia, Jennifer Ortega, and her son Brian Valencia.
Betty was born on January 31 st , 1941 to her beloved parents Jesus Canizales and Fidela Gonzales. Her passion was her family. She was a wonderful wife and mother. She was a Grandmother to 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She cared deeply for her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends. Betty was loved dearly and “adopted” by many over the years.
She loved to cook for and feed her family. Her guests would never leave hungry and she would never turn down a meal request. It was not unusual for her kitchen and dining room to be as full as any other restaurant in town, as her children and grandchildren would pile in all of their friends throughout their school years. She was a great cook and had reviews been a thing, she would have gotten five stars in our book. Betty loved going to the Casino. She enjoyed playing the penny slots, visiting with family and friends, and drinking a nice cold strawberry daiquiri when she was really feeling frisky. She enjoyed going to the concerts as well. Spanish music made her happy and if there was a dance floor in sight, her and Gilbert were on it.
She enjoyed going to the little league baseball games. Even after her grandchildren were grown and no longer playing, her and Gilbert still made their way to the field to cheer the teams on. A simple drive through town, both Miami and Globe, brought joy to Betty time and time again.
At home, her favorite thing to watch on tv was game shows. She adored her grandbabies and great grandbabies over the years. She was a master of slumber parties, her grandkids never wanted to leave. She was always proud of their accomplishments. She was so much fun that she was funny, even when we were getting in trouble (well for the most part). Betty was a strong woman, a hard worker and had a beautiful soul. She was generous and always so grateful for the people in her life. She would tell stories about how thankful she was and how important the people around her made her feel. Together, her and Gilbert built a home that will be irreplaceable in the hearts of so many.
Betty, our Mom, our Grandma, our Nana, our Auntie, and our friend, you were such a bright light in all of our lives. Your stories and sense of humor will be forever missed and the time that we shared will forever be cherished.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe, AZ.
