Betty Louise Smyers

Betty L. Smyers was born on January 3rd, 1929, in Payson, Arizona to William and Phoebe Stewart. She passed away peacefully on December 11th, 2024, with her family by her side. Betty married the love of her life, Robert V. Smyers on May 31st, 1947. They had many happy years together until he passed away on March 7th, 1997. Betty loved traveling, going to church, being with the family, always loved having gatherings after church, and making dinner for everyone.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Susan Smyers Purcella (Wayne), Sherilyn Smyers Bozzola, and Janell Smyers Cranswick. Also survived by her 2 sisters, Velma Tucker and Aileenee Holliday and by her 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Betty is proceeded in death by her Parents Willian and Phoebe Stweart, stepfather Chester Cooper, Husband Robert V. Smyers, son Robert A Smyers, granddaughter Melissa Bozzola Hobbs, and brother Dwight Cooper.

She worked numerous jobs starting with working afternoon shift at Gila General as a nursing assistant for many years. She worked for Dr. O'Brian in private practice, then worked at the Recorders office at the Gila County Court House for many years. She than decided to go into business with her sister-in- law making and teaching ceramics, after a few years they decided to sell the business and travel. She was a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers where she received numerous awards.

Services for Betty will be at 11:00 AM on January 4th, 2025, at the Lamont Mortuary. Burial will follow at Mountain Breeze Cemetery.
