Betty Jean Kinney

Betty Jean Kinney of San Carlos Arizona passed away on December 30, 2023, at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center. She was 70 years old.

She was born to Wilfred Kinney and Maria Hoffman Kinney on July 19, 1953, in San Carlos Arizona.

She attended Fort Apache Boarding School and Phoenix Indian High School from 1970-1972. She would stay up late doing her schoolwork using only a kerosene lamp. She was an “A” student.

Betty later met Leon Early and began a family with him. She grew up closely with Delphine, Angie, Olivia, and Tom. They had a lot of fun playing by the river, swimming, and fishing.

She enjoyed cooking for various family gatherings. She always had her doors open to anyone who needed a place to stay. Her favorite hobbies were doing puzzles and crossword puzzles as well as sewing.

She enjoyed being around family and friends. She also enjoyed attending ceremonial dances and going to church services.

Betty leaves behind 2 brothers, Hanson Kinney, and Tom Kinney, Five sons, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her companion Leon Early, a daughter, sisters: Winifred Miller, Mary Porter, Katherine Kenton, and Margaret Ward.

Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Wake: Friday, January 12, 2023, at the family home, (first right on San Carlos Ave.), at 4:00 PM.

Services at the family home in San Carlos on Saturday January 13, 2023, at 11:00AM.

Burial is in San Carlos Cemetery on Mormon Hill.
