Benny “Zitro” Ortiz passed away on May 13, 2024. He born on December 13, 1937, in Miami, AZ. He graduated high school and served in the National Guard.
Zitro moved to California where he worked for Uniroyal before returning to Arizona where he retired and made Globe his home. Zitro, a beloved member of our community, enjoyed being downtown visiting with anyone he came across. He often referred to the Globe Post Office as “his office” where you could catch him on the steps visiting with just about anyone. He also enjoyed listening to our local radio station, where he would call in to make daily song dedications. Some of Zitro’s other hobbies included watching and betting on sports games. Zitro was known by many names and “Zitroisms” such as “Master of Disaster” and “Prince”.
Benny is proceeded in death by his mother Andrea, father John, son Eddie Paul, and daughter Lillian. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories, survived by his sister, Gloria Perez (Tony Perez) and many nieces and nephews.
Benny will be missed by many. ~Time has elapsed
Viewing/Services will be on June 1, 2024, at 9:30am at Lamont Mortuary with luncheon to follow at Upton’s (253 S Broad St Globe AZ).
