Anthony Julian Rakoczy, died at home on February 6th, 2025. He was born to Julian Rakoczy and Celicia Stefansky Rakoczy on June 4th, 1944, in Hamtramck, Michigan. His father died unexpectedly when he was in High School. At 18 during the Vietnam Era, he completed high School early and enlisted in the U.S. Navy with basic training at Great Lakes Naval Academy. After nine years of Naval service, he became a civilian and moved to Arizona where his mother and two younger sisters had relocated. He worked building Mobile Homes and fabricating sheet metal. He then worked for the United States Postal Service in Apache Junction for 27 years.
He loved nature and all outdoor activities. He read History and Science Fiction. He loved to watch Historical and Nature Documentaries. He was intelligent, thoughtful, easy-going and funny. He studied books and became a self-taught handyman, using those skills assisting friends and family in need. He enjoyed engineering, planning and the building process. He built his own flatbed cargo trailer, storage sheds, porches, awnings and a cottage in Young Arizona.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 39 years, Wanda Joy, brother Mike of Michigan and his sisters Sue and Nancy both of Mesa.
