Albert Martin Hetrick, Jr.

Albert Martin “Marty” Hetrick passed away surrounded by his family on August 31, 2023, at Cobre Valley Regional Medical Center. He was 83. Marty is survived by his wife Patty, son John Hetrick (Gloria) of Tucson, two daughters, Linda Hetrick of Mesa, Karen Rork (Brian) of Globe and stepdaughter Marci Stallings (Courtney) of Chandler. He also leaves behind 8 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, and his sister Valerie Nathanson (Mark) of Palmdale, Ca. Marty was predeceased by his parents and his sister and Brother-in-Law, Vernon and Grace Taylor. Marty proudly joined the US Navy in 1957 at the age of 17 and retired after 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer. While in the Navy, he was assigned to the USS Haven Hospital Ship, the USS Saratoga and served with the Fleet Marine Force for 12 years as a Chief Hospital Corpsman. He also served 2 tours in Vietnam and participated in the first amphibious landing in the Gulf of Tonkin. During his service to our country he was awarded: Navy/Marine Corps Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (4), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ 1960’s Device. After retiring from the Navy in 1977, Marty and his family moved to Globe where he accepted the position of the Director of Health Services for Gila County. He retired from the Gila County Health Services Department in August 2002 after 25 years. Marty enjoyed many hobbies such as anything that involved cars from repairs to rebuilds. He was especially proud of his 1939 Ford Coupe which he built from scratch and the sand rails he would take to the Dunes. He loved to take road trips on his motorcycle and enjoyed working on his HO scale model railroad. He found his relaxation in camping, target shooting, reading, crossword puzzles and hanging out with his wife. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, at the Lamont Mortuary Chapel in Globe, Arizona. Assisting the family; Lamont Mortuary of Globe located at 328 S.
