Albert Benson

January 2, 1925 — October 22, 2019

Albert Benson, age of 94 passed away on Oct. 22, 2019 at San Carlos Hospital. He was born in San Carlos, AZ on Jan. 2, 1925. Son of Riley and Nellie Benson. Albert married June and was a loving father to his daughter Kathy. He work as an Iron worker in San Francisco, California for 30 plus years.  Before, he move to California he was a San Carlos Police Officer. Enjoyed traveling from San Francisco to San Carlos Apache Reservation to visit his friends and family. He often brought souvenir gifts from California. He loved everyone and made sure family came first. No matter how far he lived. He spoke fluently in the Apache language and his culture he never forgot. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps. He was a World War II Veteran a Master Sergeant.  Albert is the last known World War II Veteran to be deceased as a San Carlos Apache Tribal   Member .  Visitation will be Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Esther Starr residence on Peridot Siding Road near the Again Bridge. Funeral Services will take place Friday, Nov. 1 at 1:00 PM at the National Veterans Cemetery, Medicine Way in Peridot. where the burial will follow immediately.                                                                    Preceded in death by his parents Riley and Nellie also, by his brother and sisters. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 9 am in Peridot Siding at Esther Starr residence. Same day funeral service will be held at 1pm. Interment will be at the National Memorial Veteran's Cemetery - Peridot. He will be the only World War II Veteran of the San Carlos Apache Tribe to be buried at the cemetery. All churches are welcome. Any donations is greatly appreciated.
