William “Bill” Allen Olmstead, 74, a long-time Globe resident, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side, on January 29, 2017. Born in Golden, Colorado, Bill moved with his family to Inspiration, Arizona at age 12. He graduated from Miami High School in 1961 and attended Northern Arizona University. He resided in Flagstaff and Globe, holding sales positions with Dye Oxygen and Kaman Bearings. Later in life, he was the office manager at Palace Pharmacy and a route driver for the Copper Country News. Bill’s interests were leatherworking, fishing, and he could often be found guitar pickin’ with his best friend, Cole Durham. He was a self-taught guitarist who had a passion for playing and would often emulate his favorite musician, Johnny Cash. Bill’s favorite foods were anything with sugar in them. He would often be seen giving people a friendly smile and a Porter Wagoner wave. He was a kind and giving Christian man, and adored his family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Margaret Olmstead. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 52 years, Carmen; sons, Ben and Ed; grandchildren, Amanda, Fred and Brittney; great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Trey, Bentli, and Morrigan; brother, John (Leni); sisters, Linda Frazier and Jo Ellen Miranda; and many nieces and nephews. Lamont Mortuary assisted the family and at Bill’s request, no services are planned. Bill will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
