Thomas Dempster

August 20, 1937 — December 10, 2016

Thomas Ainsley Dempster Born in Coolidge, Arizona to George and Lola Dempster and moved to Coolidge Dam at the age of 5 when his father became Superintendent of Coolidge Dam. He enjoyed growing and running up and down the hills of Coolidge Dam. He met his wife Blanche after her Mayo Clinic Nurse training in Rochester, Minnesota. He followed her to the Philippines where they got married within two years. They have one daughter, Evelyn. Thomas worked as a miner, teacher, named Teacher of the month and Coach. He earned his Master’s degree from NAU. When he was Cobre Valley Medical Center’s Auxiliary President, it was through his financial planning and direction on behalf of the hospital that the Serenity Garden came to life and is what it is today. He was also involved with Habitat for Humanity and the Masonic organization. On weekends, he loved to go fishing locally and watching ball games. He loves Karaoke, singing “Jambalaya” with friends, cookouts with family and loved his Granddaughters hugs. They were his greatest joy. He left this earth as a kind, gentle hearted, peaceful man to reunite with his parents and brother, George Dempster. Thomas will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife of 46 years, Blanche, daughter Evelyn (husband Eric Dawson and granddaughter Emily) and Martha his sister and her son, his nephew, Russell. Donations may be made to Cobre Valley Regional Medical Centers Serenity Garden. Services will be in Globe Arizona at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, January 14th 2017 at 1:00pm.
