Ignacio Ponce

Ignacio L. Ponce, age 88, of Globe, Arizona passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Heritage Healthcare Nursing Center in Globe, AZ. He was born in Moyahua, Zacatecas, Mexico on October 26, 1928, the son of Angel and Felicitas (Legaspi) Ponce. After moving to Arizona he worked at La Casita in downtown Globe and later at El Rey in Globe and Miami. Ignacio left the restaurants to work for Inspiration Copper Mine at the Christmas location and later worked as an underground miner at the Miami Inspiration Copper Mine site until he retired. Inacio is survived by his wife Maria Ponce, his children, Maria Estrella (Pancho), Rachel Miranda (Ernie), Abel Ponce (Shay), Pat Ponce-Brown (Ulysses), Maria Ramos, Maria Phillips, Jesus Velarde and Claudia Grijalva, his brother Louis Ponce and 18 grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sat. November 12, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Miami, AZ Rosary will follow at 9:30 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament. Interment will follow at Globe Cemetery in Globe, AZ
