John A. Riddering

John A. Riddering, 90, of Globe passed away peacefully at his home on September 2, 2016. He was born June 18, 1926 in Butler, MN to E. August and Grace Riddering. John grew up in MN and then served in the United States Navy during World War II. After the war he returned home and met his wife Martina Ann Dulski. They were married on June 14, 1950. They moved to AZ in 1951 and raised their children in Miami. John worked as a heavy equipment operator and then as a foreman for several copper mining companies until he retired in 1988. John was a member of both the Miami and Globe Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) for over 60 years. He served in various positions including Post Commander, District Commander and Assistant Inspector and won All American at least twice. John and Marty spent several years volunteering as campground host for the United States Forest Service in Greer, AZ. Camping, fishing and hunting with family and friends were a major part of their life. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and loyalty to his fellow veterans. John gave much of his time to the community and will be missed dearly by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his sisters Johanna Dulski of Perham, MN and Terry Martin of Globe; his children Diane Herndon of Chandler, Pat Sanson of Meeker, CO, Cathy Sexton (John) of Peoria, Stella Hartman (Leonard) of Peoria and Anthony Riddering (Gwen) of Globe; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. John was proceeded in death by his wife Marty of Globe; his sisters Marty Purcella of Globe, Mary Nordic of Wampheton, ND, Rita Kennedy of Madison, WI; his brothers Ben Riddering of Oracle, AZ and Ted Riddering of New York Mills, MN; son-in-law Gary Herndon of Chandler, AZ. Memorial services will be held at Lamont Mortuary on Saturday, September 10 at 4:00pm. The memorial will be followed by a Celebration of Life at the Globe VFW at 5:00pm, 707 Broad Street, Globe. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Globe VFW, PO Box 267, Globe, AZ 85502. Assisting the family is Lamont Mortuary.
