Robert Lynn Powers

CMSGT (Ret) Robert (Bob) Lynn Powers, 83, of Globe, Arizona, passed into eternal rest on January 31, 2016. He was born September 16, 1932, in Marianna, Arkansas to John Leonard and Euna Mae (Humphrey) Powers. The family relocated to Globe in the mid 1940’s, where he attended school, graduating from Globe High School in 1950. After working in the Globe area for a while, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in February 1952. His 24 year Air Force career included stints as an aerial gunner and inflight refueling specialist (boom operator). He met and married Anne Michael on December 31, 1952 in Globe; they were married 63 years, one month. To this union, four children were born: Robert Jr. born in 1953 (wife Karen) residing in Globe; Damon Michael (Mike) born in 1957 (wife Nancy) residing in Minneapolis, MN; Brian, born in 1960 (wife Marsha) residing in Fairborn, OH; and Janelle, born in 1963 residing in Globe. After Bob’s military service ended in March 1976, he worked as a civil servant in the Social Security Administration until his retirement and return to Globe in 1987. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeo, NASCAR, and auctions of any type. Bob was the last of his siblings to pass. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers and two sisters, numerous fellow veterans and hunting companions. He is survived by wife Anne, all four children and their spouses, two grandsons, three granddaughters, four great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, and two sisters in law, Aline Powers of Sun City West, AZ and Mary Powers of Globe. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, February 6th at St Paul’s Lutheran church, 750 W. Paxton Ave. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Bob’s memory to the church. Inurnment will take place at a later time at the Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, South Dakota. Bob was a great husband, loving and supportive father, grandfather, companion and friend. He will be sorely missed.
